Description
Macro close-up of whole cloves on a wood whole and broken cloves. Cloves are a spice made from the flower buds of an evergreen tree called, appropriately enough, the clove tree. Clove flower buds are harvested in their immature state and then dried. Cloves can be used whole or ground, and they have a very strong, pungent flavor and aroma. Cloves are small nailed shaped flower buds that are dried. They have a sweet, somewhat penetrating flavor.

Thanks every one. I love getting real close and see the details we overlook so easily.

Very cool image...reminds me of Christmas time and pushing hundreds of cloves into oranges with my mom when I was little...My fingers hurt so much, but smelled so good!...fv

That is when I use most of my cloves. The other time is when I make Baklava for our 4H fair kids beekeeper club. It is such a hit the kids only have to fundraise at the fair once a year.
